Marquise Kruger

There are many people in the Sphere who care about their neighbors. But their kindness should not be mistaken for weakness.
 
Adelaide Kruger came from an ancient family, had the title of marquise and held a high post at court. She was an incredibly beautiful woman, whose hand was sought by all the lords in the kingdom.
But the Marquise was not up to it. She founded orphanages for victims of the war with demons, and collected homeless animals in her estate. Many joked that Adelaide would rather marry another cat than a man. Such conversations did not offend the lady, but on the contrary, they made her laugh.
 
However, not everyone was ready to accept the eccentricity of the Marquise. Lord Vermank wanted to marry Lady Kruger at all costs. For several months he gave Adelaide gold, but the Marquise was adamant. After another refusal, the lord could not stand it: he gathered people and set fire to her estate. The Marquise rushed into a burning building to save all the animals that she sheltered. She managed to endure everyone, but she died herself.
 
When the fire was over, the animals returned to the ruins of the estate to honor the memory of their mistress. The spirit of the Marquise could not leave them and returned in the form of an unusual cat with horns. In a new guise, Lady Kruger took revenge on her killer, and then became a defender of animals. Since then, anyone who kicked an unfortunate kitten on the street does not live long.
