The heart of the glacier

In the legends of demons, between the stories of great battles, there is one special chilling legend. It tells about the farthest northern point of the Sphere, where eternal darkness and cold reign. It was here that the demon Idris came in search of a force capable of erasing humanity.
Wandering among the lifeless black rocks, he found an ancient glacier permeated with a vein of the purest magic. Idris carved a mask out of his heart. It was blacker than the night itself, absolutely impenetrable, containing all the sorrow and cold of this God-forsaken place. The mask did not hide the face, it erased it, becoming a new, inhuman skin.
But Idris didn't know that. Therefore, the moment the ice touched his flesh, the demon howled from the cold that pierced him and heard a voice in his mind. The mask seduced with power, the power of the very cold, but demanded a price — eternity in the icy prison of one's own body. She was a parasite, slowly sucking out the warmth of the soul, causing the host to lose memory, emotions, her very essence.
It was impossible to remove it. The mask grew into the flesh and turned the demon into an eternally frozen statue in agony. The mask had only one goal, one need — to search. Search for new, life-burning hearts to turn them into ice. And now she is waiting for a new carrier.
